The High Bridge Emergency Squad, a Volunteer organization dedicated to providing Professional Emergency Medical and Rescue Services, has been in operation for over fifty years. Local residence have served the Borough of High Bridge and its surrounding communities through the gift of their time.

Every member of the High Bridge Emergency Squad has trained to be an Emergency Medical Technician, a Rescue Technician, or both by attending numberous hours of specialized classes on their own free time. The membership answers calls twenty four hours per day, seven days per week, no matter the weather conditions or the hour of the night.

The organization houses its three ambulances, heavy rescue truck, water rescue utility vehicle and boat at the station on County Route 513 just inside the Borough. There is sufficient room for all the equipment and supplies as the building was recently built to provide the Rescue Squad with its own home. Previously, the High Bridge Emergency Squad and L.H. Taylor Hose Company shared a location at the bottom of Maryland Ave.

The High Bridge Emergency Squad answers approximately seven hundred calls per year. During the daytime hours, a paid crew of two EMT's respond to the calls for help. Volunteers take over when the paid crew is busy, and after they leave for the evening. The paid day crew has allowed the volunteer members to focus their efforts on the evening and weekend calls, and special rescue team activities.
